Located in Al-Mutlaa, Kuwait, a newly developed residential area, the concept of the villa is inspired by the nearby Mutlaa Ridge; a unique geological area with beautiful rock formations that shape the landscape. Situated on a corner plot the in and out villa sets out to bring the outdoors in by introducing deep light wells on the primary facade, echoing the canyon like ridge formations of the surrounding landscape. As a multi-generational home the program brief is spatially demanding in terms of useable area. To achieve a more desirable layout and quality of interior space in terms of light and views, the light wells serve to bring indirect light from the northern facade deep into the building and down to the basement. The facade reflects the program of the building by staying true to the massing and emphasizes the volumetric nature of the internal layout.
